Dominion Energy has proposed using a different technology, HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) lines to bring power to Loudoun County.

VDC lines are different because they send power to a single location, rather than multiple destinations, unlike the alternating current lines currently in use. The lines, which run on a single cable and require much less space to bury, carry large amounts of power over long distances. They would help bring needed power to the County to serve the County’s increased energy needs, especially supporting its data centers. Read more here.
